In 1863, the Westaway family came to Queensland with cattle and took up a parcel of land on the Mooloolah River which they named "Meridan Plains".
The Westaways have occupied Meridan Plains ever since, a long and proud record of continuous ownership by an original pioneering family. Over the years, a selection of breeds have been used and Meridan has been the home of another quality stud Meridan Herefords, which was very successful.
In 1991, Richard Westaway purchased a line of quality Blonde steers from Ken and Cathy Marsh at the Gympie Sale. These steers displayed true Blonde characteristics, outstanding growth rate, excellent temperament and high carcass yield. Because of these steers Richard purchased his first Blonde bull, Banya Navigator from the Loveday family, at Ag Show in 1993. This bull was very impressive and delivered the highest quality progeny. In 1995, the next generation of Westaways, Anthony and Mathew seized the opportunity to establish their own stud enterprise. This decision was easily made after their previous positive experience with Blondes.
